The Positive Thinking 30-day challenge

Welcome to the Positive Thinking 30-day challenge. My name is Carol King and I am challenging myself and anyone else who cares to join me to spend the next 30 days making a conscious effort to only think positive thoughts.

Now I know full well that this is going to be a tough task and many of you will shy away from this challenge because you think that it is impossible to think positively all of the time. Well I agree with you. However that is not going to prevent me from accomplishing this task. Although it may not be possible to think positively at all times, it is possible to be aware of ones thoughts. This challenge is not so much about being engaged in positive thinking at all times; it is more about being engaged in changing the negative thoughts when they arise. This is also challenging but definitely do-able.

My task (and yours) is to be aware of what we are thinking and when negative thoughts arise intentionally send them on their way and replace that negative thought with a positive one. That is the real challenge.

I am sure that you can come up with a whole long list about why you cannot intentionally remove your negative thoughts, after all you have debts up to your eyeballs, bills still unpaid, too many days left before you get paid, a negative bank balance, difficult children, trouble at work, a demanding boss, a nagging wife…I could go on. But the thing is if you choose not to take part in this challenge, what will be different 30 days from now? Not a lot! You will still have a whole long list of things to feel bad about.

But if you choose to consciously put aside those negative thoughts for 30 days, it is possible that your life will begin to change. It is possible that some unexpected money will come your way; it is possible that you will find yourself with a new less demanding boss or you may just find that your nagging partner becomes more supportive. The point is according to universal law, thoughts become things, so when we spend our time focusing on the things that we do not like we simply get more of what we do not like. But if we can take our focus off those things just for a short while the pictures of our life begin to change.

That is what I want to accomplish in the next 30 days. I have suffered a terrible trauma recently, for which I have sought professional help but I still believe that it is possible for me to put aside all of the painful negative thoughts that I have experienced in the last seven days and set an intention to think in a different way. As Jack Canfield would say “all of the negative situations in life are simply called So What! The real what is, what are you going to do now, what do you choose to do now? You can either keep focusing on that negative or focus on the positive instead.”

I choose to focus on the positive! What happened to me this past week is just that “Past” so what is the point in dwelling in that place? Yes I am going to need some help to rid myself of the negative emotions that have arisen but the point is I have taken the step forward so that I can begin to make positive changes. I choose not to stay in that place of self-pity and anger, I choose to not see myself as a victim, and I choose a happier way of living. After all happiness is a choice, it is not something that you have to find outside of yourself, it is not something that will be automatically received once you “fix” what ever is troubling you in your life. Happiness is something that can be experienced any time any place anywhere. We always have the choice when it comes to how we think, feel and act. No one can make us angry without our permission and no one can make us feel badly about ourselves, that is a choice that we make, and just as we choose to get angry when our boss forces us to work longer hours, we can choose to see it as an opportunity to make more money. There is a positive and negative side to every situation in life and we get to choose which vantage point we will view it from.

I urge you to join me in this Positive Thinking 30-Day Challenge, I urge you to choose a different way. You’ve tried the old way and you still have plenty to complain about, so how about trying a new way? Just think; one month from now you could have a whole different life.
